Home Bargains, all the offers at your fingertips

Since being founded in 1976, Home Bargains has continued offering lifestyle products and brands (from food and beauty to clothing and toys) via hundreds of stores and thousands of helpful staff members across the UK.

About Home Bargains

Although Home Bargains’ reputation is boosted by its rich range of in-store and online products, the company’s coloured branding can’t be ignored. In fact, its blue-and-red corporate identity, which can be seen in stores decorating major shopping streets, centres and arcades in the UK, was created by professional graphic designer Anton Morris.

Most Home Bargain stores range from small to medium in size, while retail park outlets are known to be slightly bigger.

The history of Home Bargains

The brand was founded in 1976 by 21-year-old Tom Morris, who operated it as a single store (known as Home and Bargain) in Old Swan, Liverpool. Fortunately, retail was in Morris’ genes, as his parents and grandparents were shopkeepers. During the early days, Tom and his siblings regularly helped out with product shortages by simply making items themselves. This worked, as the brand was already enjoying a strong 20 – 25% growth.

As the brand expanded and more stores opened across the UK, the name switched to Home Bargains in 1995 – except in Liverpool, where locals still choose to call it Home and Bargain.

By early 2013, customers (who were drawn to the various stores new garden accessories, Christmas bargains, and more) numbered over 3 million.

Today, Home Bargains continues under the watchful eye of Morris (and his brother, Joe) as it’s still committed to selling high-quality products at the lowest possible prices.
