A Wickes employee has gone from operating a fork lift truck to being snapped up by a modelling agency and featuring in Vogue and taking to the catwalks of London and Paris fashion weeks.
We’ve all walked past a mirror, had a look, given yourself a little pout. Maybe you’ve even spent an extra minute or two in the bathroom checking yourself out. Well, it’s paid off for one Wickes employee.
Nathan Wrigley, aged 19, has been signed by a modelling agency whilst still working as a forklift truck operator in his local Wickes store.
One of his friends persuaded him to send some snaps in to a London modelling agency. They emailed back and within just a matter of weeks, he was trading in the hard hats and high vis jackets for some of the latest trends to hit Paris and London - unless of course the latest trend was hard hats and high vis jackets.
Wickes was founded in 1972 and now operates more than 200 stores across the UK.
Wickes regularly runs in-store Wickes Buy Bulk & Save deals on common products used by tradesmen and offers Wickes GiftVouchers which can be redeemed in-store.
Although Wickes does offer other branded products, it mainly sells its own brand in stores.
The first Wickes store open in the UK in 1972.
Wickes has 200 stores located across the the UK, which is mainly in large retail parks.
The Wickes name goes back as far as 1854, when Henry Dunn Wickes started a lumber business in the USA.
