Screwfix is the country’s biggest seller of trade tools, hardware, bathrooms, kitchens and more. There are over 450 stores in the UK selling everything for the tradesman to the DIY enthusiast.
Screwfix DIY and hardware stores are usually located in trade parks or out-of-town retail parks, but there are over 450 stores across the UK so chances are there’s one near you. What’s more, they plan to open a further 200 new stores in the next couple of years! Screwfix opening times vary from store to store so check online before you make the trip, but as a rule stores are open between around 7am and 8pm, 7 days a week. Use the Screwfix store locator online to find details for your local store.
Online shoppers rejoice: if an item is not in stock in a certain store, it can be ordered and delivered to that store next-day! Screwfix promo codes show up from time to time, so sign-up for emails and get the latest news. The Screwfix catalogue can be ordered online, and it’s free!
History of Screwfix
Screwfix began life as a retailer of (you guessed it) screws. The first Screwfix catalogue was published in the early 1980s and ran to only one page. The catalogue grew over the years to a more substantial version which served DIY and tradesmen. Today, the Screwfix direct mail order catalogue runs to hundreds of pages and contains over 11,000 products. The recently launched Screwfix Quickshop app lets customers put together an order on their phone and creates a QR code which is scanned at the till. Currently, the retailer has over 450 stores in the United Kingdom and 9 German stores.
The Screwfix Foundation was launched in 2013. The foundation aims to bring Screwfix’s expertise in building and hardware to the aid of various UK charities which need help building, fixing or improving their facilities. It has raised over £950,000 for charity since it was launched! Screwfix is also good to its staff, wining 2016 Oracle Retail Award for Employer of the year. The company has been recognised for its customer service also, which is no doubt due to the ‘extra mile’ services they offer, such as the 24/7 contact centre and the 5 minute click and collect service.
