Bristol: Tourism, shopping and much more!

Bristol, regarded as the most populous city in South West England, is located on the River Avon. Driving from Bristol to London will take you in an eastern direction for about 2.5 hours. With two universities (the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England), Bristol also offers numerous artistic and sporting organisations.

Bristol is located in a limestone area that stretches from the south’s Mendip Hills to the Cotswolds in the northeast. Sometimes, the Bristol population describes their city as being built on seven hills. And thanks to 18th century guidebooks, we know today that these hills are Bristol (the Old Town), Castle Hill, College Green, Kingsdown, St Michaels Hill, Brandon Hill and Redcliffe Hill.

With its oceanic climate, Bristol enjoys weather that’s milder than most areas in the UK. Fortunately, this doesn’t get in the way of Bristol’s many tourist attractions, such as the Bristol Zoo Gardens that spells fun for the whole family. If you’re not entranced by the 300+ animal species, perhaps the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery with its three-floor offering of Egyptian mummies, dinosaurs, and more will do the trick.

But if your interests are more geared towards shopping centres, Bristol has some amazing options to consider…
