GO Outdoors, all the offers at your fingertips

Known as the UK’s biggest outdoor stores, GO Outdoors ensures a rich range of sporting goods, active wear and outdoor products – not to mention enticing shopper’s benefits like specials sales and a discount card.

About GO Outdoors

In addition to helping shoppers step into the outdoors, GO Outdoors also likes to keep things fun. That’s why various stores offer specialist sections for fishing and equestrian products (and even go so far as to sell live bait), thanks to the expert knowledge and reputation of both the Fishing Republic and Naylors brands.

Remember that GO Outdoors is also dedicated to enhancing all shoppers’ experience via the brand’s updated online catalogues and product brochures to ensure you never miss another sale, special, or discount.

The history of GO Outdoors

GO Outdoors was launched in 1998 by a most unlikely duo. While John Graham had previously lived in barns and bus shelters, Paul Caplan went bankrupt with a former jeans company.

Caplan kicked-off his retail apprenticeship at the age of seven, working in his father’s Sheffield clothing store. But time wasn’t kind to the company and Caplan lost everything at 30. With only £300 left, Caplan started Bankrupt Clothing Company selling unsold jean stock. Luckily, he managed to sell that business before it went under in 1997 and invested in GO Outdoors.

By then Graham, also coming from a retail background, was working his way up to being General Manager at the Camping and Caravanning Centre when he met Caplan. In May 1998, the duo bought the store, converted it into GO Outdoors, and launched a successful chain with dozens of stores (and thousands of products) across the UK.

And although Caplan and Graham sold their venture (which had grown into 58 stores by then) to JD Sports in 2016, the GO Outdoors brand still continues with its mission today: inspiring everyone to get outdoors for less and love it as much as we do.
