Matalan is a fashion and homeware retailer with over 221 stores throughout the country. Matalan clothes, shoes and home accessories offer the latest trends at very reasonable prices.
One of the main reasons shoppers love Matalan is the ‘everything under one roof’ concept of their stores. Every store is usually divided into four areas: womenswear, menswear, kids and homeware. Matalan sell a combination of own-brands as well as other well-known brands. The mix of Matalan clothes brands on offer include Farah, Pringle and Papaya. Matalan home collections are designed by an in-house team and so you won’t find them anywhere else.
Getting to your local Matalan is just as convenient as shopping there. Matalan stores are located in out of town areas and offer free parking for customers. Matalan opening times vary from stores to store, but most are open sometime between 9am and 8pm.
History of Matalan
The first Matalan UK store was opened in Preston in 1985 with the aim of selling good quality products at reasonable prices to modern families. The Matalan card was also launched, letting anyone join for only £1. In 2003 Matalan dropped the £1 charge and, unlike before, today it isn’t necessary to have a card to make purchases. Matalan now have over 220 stores throughout the United Kingdom, as well as an online store at Matalan.co.uk. There are also dedicated clearance stores in Renfrew, Newport, London, Exeter and Sunderland.
Although the Matalan card is no longer necessary to make purchases, if you shop at this retailer regularly it really is worth registering for one (its free!). Customers with a card receive many benefits, including cardholder discounts, exclusive offers and a friendly email reminder when the latest Matalan sale or promotion is released. Also, you’ll receive money off vouchers through the post or by email, which includes a special voucher on your birthday!
