If customers have questions about wine, Amazon offers the services of a sommelier.
Amazon have launched Amazon Sommelier, the wine department of Amazon. Following the creation of the delivery service in 2015, with which customers can receive goods within two hours in major cities for Prime customers, Amazon have set up the sommeliers hotline for users of the Japanese website.
Every day, customers can leave their phone number in a three-hour slot with the assurance of being called back in a matter of minutes by a professional sommelier responsible for responding to all their questions concerning wines.
The sommelier also sends, half an hour after the conversation, an email summarising the advice and giving some wine recommendations suitable for the client, following their conversation. It’s unknown at the moment whether the service will spread to other countries - the company hasn’t released any news about it. Regardless, it would be nice to see it here soon.
Amazon was initially known for the selling books online, but the company has diversified over the years, and now offers all kinds of cultural products and more. To date, Amazon employs 132000 people worldwide.
