Ealing, a district in West London, is often referred to as Ealing Broadway, which is the name of both a railway interchange and shopping centre that can be found here. Those curious about the name’s meaning should look towards history – the area derives its name from the Gillingas (the people of Gilla) which, over time, gradually changed into Yealing, Zelling, Eling and, finally Ealing.

Interestingly, Ealing is also known as the UK’s hotspot for Polish, since the most common language spoken in Ealing (after English, of course) is Polish.

In terms of climate, Ealing’s weather is not far removed from the rest of England’s – short and comfortable summers paired with long and very cold winters, and cloudy weather right throughout the year.
